The SPE-GCS Houston office opened in September 1995 and is the largest section in the SPE worldwide family. Formed in 1935 and currently over 19,000 members strong, SPE-GCS has been recognized for its success with a President's Award for Section Excellence nine times in the past 11 years. Without question, one of the reasons for this continued achievement is the SPE-GCS commitment to actively supporting its five student chapters: University of Houston, Rice University, Houston Community College, Prairie View A&M University, and Texas A&M University. The Society of Petroleum Engineers is the largest individual-member organization serving managers, engineers, scientists and other professionals worldwide in the upstream segment of the oil and gas industry.
