SPEARHEAD is initiated by the Innovation Office, University of Basel. SPEARHEAD stands fo SwissPandEmic&AmR Health Economy Awareness Detect. We are a consortium of 12 research and industry partners who aim to fight antimicrobial resistance #AMR . Today AMR causes more deaths than HIV and Malaria. Forecasts are dramatic, according to the Lancet, AMR could cause 10 million deaths per year and it could cost $100t to the global economy by 2050. We are developing a 360 digital program with the goal to address stewardship and prevention. At core of the program, we aim to equip doctors with a unique risk prediction model powered by artificial intelligence, using a federated learning approach. The model will be coupled with a real-time monitoring system. Our solution will enable better use of antibiotics, better efficacy, will reduce the waste and unnecessary costs. Patients and citizens will also play a major role in slowing down the antimicrobial resistance. We are developing innovative engagement tools as part of the 360-digital program integrated approach.
