Spreadhead Bio is an agtech startup that is rooted in the natural world. Right now, in plant breeding, we have a tremendously powerful tool, CRISPR-Cas, that acts as a pair of molecular scissors. The challenge is: there’s only so much you can do with a toolbox that only has scissors. In nature, transposable elements work as a kind of molecular glue. Spreadhead Bio unleashes the power of that molecular glue, paired with CRISPR-Cas scissors, to create a powerful new toolbox that makes targeted plant breeding faster, cheaper, and more accurate.
