In the 1980's Special Cosmetics was founded by a small group of make-up specialists lead by make-up artist Wil van het Hek in Amsterdam. Special Cosmetics BV distributes its own brands Make-up Studio and TYRO Cosmetics in more than 65 countries and has more than 20.000 points of sale (POS). The POS consist of mono brand stores, shop-in-shop and displays in retail chains, salons,beauty centers, wellness centers, hairdressers, webshops and online platforms such as Amazon, Bol.com and Douglas.
The head office of Special Cosmetics is based in Wormerveer, The Netherlands, which is about 30 minutes from Amsterdam. The distribution, warehouse, administration, sales, marketing and training facilities are all located under one roof in Wormerveer.
