Special2Us is a private, personalised photo-&-oral family-memory service - what does this mean? You can record & play back voices with your old pictures: creating a photo album which has your parents, friends & children's stories in it, in their own voices - describing the events which have been special to you & your family
Currently on test with Undertakers, Schools for PSHE, in Care Homes for use with those living with Dementia, in Scout Groups & soon to be introduced on the high street through a national chain, the Special2Us service is a tool to help combat loneliness among the elderly and create connections among family whose members are living & working far & away from each other
S2U is most used by "Parents with Parents" - the middle-generations to see-them-through the transition to a digital photographic age from their parent's analogue lives... so children & friends can enjoy hearing reminiscences & viewing what were previously difficult to access: albums, slides, movies ... but as important: documents - ration books, school reports, marriage certificates etc
S2U is creating an eco-system where families or individuals arrange for memorabilia, photographs & films/videos to be transferred from all various media into “digital assets”, stored safely (in the cloud) and can be viewed and annotated via the internet, or, reproduced for presents
S2U is the family vault into which today's pictures & videos from mobiles along with the scans of black & white printed imagery & documents from yesteryear combine to create family & personal legacies... in perpetuity
S2U is now adopted as a research & curation tool for oral historians working with museums & commercially funded social initiatives documenting topics such as urban regeneration
