Clinical research is based on patient data from medical records, but electronic medical record systems rarely 'speak' with other IT-systems, such as the ones used for data capture in clinical research. Therefore, data extraction and transfer in research must be done manually, which is slow, expensive, resource demanding and with a high risk of errors.
SPEDA has developed a solution that enables automatic data extraction and transfer from electronic patient records to research platforms such as REDCap and OpenClinica. It is easy, fast and has no deep integration with the record system, and therefore also totally safe.
The vision is a platform where research groups select the data they want to extract for their research project, and then the system will automatically transfer data continuously as the research project progresses. With SPEDA researchers can focus their time and money on actual research!
