SPELL JIF

The SPELL JIF (School Pool for Excess Liability Limits Joint Insurance Fund) is a statutorily filed joint self-insurance fund owned and managed by 3 JIFs: Atlantic & Cape May Counties Association of School Business Officials Joint Insurance Fund (ACCASBO), Burlington County Insurance Pool Joint Insurance Fund (BCIP), the Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem School Districts Joint Insurance Fund (GCSSD). The SPELL was formed as a much needed financing mechanism to provide owner groups with a more cost-effective method for financing risk. Reducing the cost of risk allows more money to be available for education. Member Districts have saved tens of millions of dollars and returned millions more in the form of dividends to their schools for textbooks, supplies, tax relief, technology and new programs.
