Spero Arts Foundation

The word “spero” is Latin for “hope”, and hope is the core of Spero Arts Foundation. Founded in 2012 to help eliminate the needless and devastating suicides among LGBTQ youth through artistic expression in San Diego County, Spero, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, works to help these extraordinary youth develop healthy coping skills to assist them with their struggles. Through the method of art therapy and artistic expression, comprised in our Club Spero program, we aim to help them find hope, joy, and purpose in their lives. Rather it be through media art, writing, dance, or music, all skill levels are welcome. Spero is a “come as you are” organization, embodying inclusion, creativity, protection, individuality, along with a strong sense of community and friendliness. Guided by Master-Level Art Therapists, along with talented local artist and volunteers, we have all come together to work toward one main purpose: hope.
