About Spinner Island
Spinner Island is a 55 acre property located at the tip of the Grizzly Island in the Suisun Marsh wildlife area. Founded in the late 1800’s by Charles Spinner, the property was used primarily as an artichoke and asparagus farm until the mid 1920’s. The Malfatano family purchased the property from Mr. Spinner and transformed it into a duck and pheasant club, building the existing 4 bedroom clubhouse. In the early 1980’s, vintner Tom Leonardini of Whitehall Lane Winery bought it and continued to run a top notch Duck and Pheasant club for his friends, including Joe Montana and Dusty Baker. The last owner bought Spinner Island in the 1990’s and it was seldom used and never formally hunted. In January 2008 Spinner Island was purchased by a group of friends with a vision to create a special Hunt, Kite and Social Club. The owners are a diverse group of men and women with a common vision to create the perfect club with easy access from the San Francisco Bay Area. The property is used year round by members, family, and friends. Our long-term goal is to create a gathering place for generations of families to kite, hunt, fish, boat, socialize, and enjoy the Delta lifestyle on a ranch property surrounded by water.
