SPITZWERK - Haute Cartographie

Operating in the emerging field of Art & Technology, we craft the world's first wooden maps micro-milled with a precision of 30 µm (diameter of a human hair). Ambitioning to rehabilitate cartography as statement pieces of interior decor, our team of amateur map-makers, engineers, and artisans designed a proprietary "data-to-mill" process to transform 1 Terabyte of geospatial data (the equivalent of 213 DVDs) into stunning replicas of Alpine landscapes. In reverence to the ever-lasting tradition of Swiss precision, quality, and craftsmanship long associated with fine watchmaking, we call this new genre of artwork "Haute Cartographie".
