Splash EU

SPLASH-EU is an award-winning initiative of the EU4Ocean Challenge 2024: "Be a Blue Citizen – Ocean, Citizenship, and Democracy." Implemented by Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal), MARE-Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre (Portugal) and MindMeUp LP (Greece), the project is funded by the European Commission through the EU4Ocean Coalition. The project addresses low civic engagement in environmental policymaking by fostering ocean advocacy and democratic participation. Through an innovative digital engagement platform, educational programs, and community events, SPLASH-EU will mobilize young citizens, NGOs, and policymakers across Portugal, Greece, and other EU countries. With a goal to train ocean leaders and host thousands of citizen-driven actions, SPLASH-EU aims to bridge the gap between communities and ocean sustainability policies.
