The HGADMS, is the official Scientific Association (Registered Association - Number 28529, based in Greece) for representation of Oceanographers and Marine Scientists in Greece.
Ο ΣΠΩΘΒΕ είναι Επιστημονικό Σωματείο, το οποίο εκπροσωπεί τους Πτυχιούχους Ωκεανογράφους και Θαλάσσιους Βιοεπιστήμονες στην Ελλάδα.
Ιδρύθηκε με απόφαση του Πρωτοδικείου Αθηνών τo 2011 (Αρ. Μητρώου Σωματείου 28529 & Αρ. Απόφασης Αναγνώρισης 310/2019, έπειτα από τροποποίηση Καταστατικού) και έχει κατοχυρωμένο λογότυπο (σήμα-logo) από το ελληνικό κράτος.

Ο ΣΠΩΘΒΕ, ως Σωματείο, αποτελεί Μη Κερδοσκοπική Οργάνωση, που αποσκοπεί στο δημόσιο όφελος, καθώς ο σκοπός της λειτουργίας του δεν είναι η επίτευξη κέρδους, αλλά ο κοινωφελής σκοπός της κατοχύρωσης του επαγγέλματος του Ωκεανογράφου / Θαλάσσιου Βιοεπιστήμονα / Περιβαλλοντολόγου / Ιχθυολόγου, ώστε οι Πτυχιούχοι Ωκεανογράφοι / Θαλάσσιοι Βιοεπιστήμονες / Περιβαλλοντολόγοι / Ιχθυολόγοι της Ελλάδας να συμμετέχουν σε όλα τα πεδία δραστηριοτήτων που σχετίζονται με το θαλάσσιο και παράκτιο περιβάλλον (Σχεδιασμός - Μελέτη - Έρευνα - Προστασία - Διαχείριση - Εκπαίδευση).
