Talking Pictures is an interactive, image-based communication aid for foreign-language patients and health care professionals. The challenge of language barriers occur on a daily basis between patients and health professionals. It influences a patient's treatment quality negatively and can lead to misdiagnosis and higher costs. Additionally it leads to more stress and frustrations for patients and health professionals. The tool fills the gap, when communication with hands and feet is not enough, and organizing a professional interpreter is too time consuming. These can be in emergency situations, where providing a safe and efficient communication is necessary to provide qualitative treatment. We believe that everyone has the right to safe and comprehensive medical treatment and the key to that is understandable communication on both sides. Sprechende Bilders supports a language-independent and equal healthcare for everyone by developing understandable images in an efficient and easy accessible tool for healthcare professionals and patients.
