(Sprout) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides educational resources to historically disadvantaged students. The organization is led by a Board of Directors that includes Brown University medical students and a core of young professionals. Sprout’s mission is to improve academic performance, stimulate an interest in science and math, and inspire the pursuit of professional success. In 2019, the organization was launched in response to a review of the Providence Public School District by the Johns Hopkins School of Education, which indicated that students are in dire need of additional support. To address this need, Sprout has connected college students with local schools to provide tutoring and mentorship.
