About Pacific Tourism Organisation
Established in 1983 as the Tourism Council of the South Pacific, the Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) is the mandated organisation representing Tourism in the Pacific, with 21 Government members and 200 private sector members. Our Vision: “Our Pacific Islands’ empowered and benefitting from sustainable tourism.” Our Mission: “Sustainable tourism development through innovative partnerships.” SPTO's strategic priorities include: - Marketing the Region: Strategically promoting the Pacific to achieve sustainable growth in tourism. - Sustainable Tourism Planning and Development: Coordinating efforts to encourage responsible tourism, ingraining sustainable planning principles, and fostering strategic partnerships. - Research and Statistics: Ensuring timely and quality data to support decision and policy-making. - Innovative Partnerships: Developing sectors such as Cruise and Yachting, Supporting Investment, Improving Air Access, and Empowering Pacific People's Capacity. SPTO's multifaceted approach underscores its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and regional collaboration in the tourism industry.
