Carmen Ostrander MA, is a community centred therapist and supervisor with a low barrier independent practice (currently based in Vancouver).
Working in service of artists, support workers, substance users and gender diverse communities, her relational and collaborative approach draws from a long history of engagement with arts based practice and transpersonal art therapy, which welcomes non-ordinary states of consciousness as catalysts for growth and insight. Additional training in Narrative Therapy (MA) situates the work in the social, cultural and political context each client brings to the relationship.
As a queer Australian woman from a non-English speaking background, she brings a carefully secular and contemporary approach to substance assisted therapies, that sits squarely in the relational space between clinical and spiritual frameworks; with a collaborative approach centred around skill development, cognitive liberty and creative liberatory practices that promote connection and autonomy.
