Sekretariat Rukun Negara UiTM Cawangan Selangor

The historical development of Sekretariat Rukun Negara or SRN, also spelled as National Principles Secretariat associations began with the establishment of Kelab Rukun Negara (National Principles Club) or KRN in both primary and secondary schools all over Malaysia as suggested by the Y.A.B Dato’ Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi during his inauguration speech on Hari Perpaduan Peringkat Kebangsaan (National Unity Day) in 2000. Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional (JPNIN) or Department of National Unity and Integration has commissioned a Kertas Jemaah Menteri (Cabinet Papers) for the reinforcement of the formalisation of KRN in all public and private schools with the expansion of the club in tertiary education sectors as well. The launching ceremony for all public and private universities was then held on September 13th, 2005. In September 2008, a re-branding initiative was initiated whereby KRN at tertiary education sectors was finally renamed as SRN with the aim to serve as a mechanism for the Government at the universities level in enriching student’s knowledge, understanding, appreciation, assessment, and proper practice of the principles as well as to portray the associations as an effective platform to sow and strengthen the spirit of patriotism among the Malaysian – locally and abroad. The SRN UiTM Shah Alam was established on November 24th, 2020 in support of the ministry’s desire to strengthen and enhance the existence of the associations among UiTM students. In this regard, all UiTM branches are then encouraged to establish their own club. SRN UiTM Cawangan Selangor (consisting of Puncak Perdana and Puncak Alam campuses) started its operations on February 26th, 2021.
