About SRPMIC 12% Gaming Grant
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community 12% Gaming Grant Program (“SRPMIC”) is a requirement of the current Tribal/State Gaming Compacts. Beginning in 2002 when Arizona voters approved a statewide initiative to expand tribal gaming activity in the State of Arizona a new partnership of shared revenue was established between Arizona Indian Tribes, that engage in gaming activities, and the State. Since 2002 Arizona Indian tribes have, collectively, contributed over $1.8 billion to the State of Arizona for a variety of programs such as Education, Trauma Services, Wildlife Conservation, Tourism, and regulatory activity. The Tribal 12% Gaming Grant Programs are a provision of the Gaming Compacts where Tribes can directly select and award grants to organizations, cities, and municipalities. As such, each tribal 12% gaming grant program is unique in its administration. For the SRPMIC the Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs manages the annual grant program. Generally, the annual grant program begins in January of each year and concludes in October. Once the annual program concludes the SRPMIC work with organizations and Cities, Towns, and Municipalities to execute Inter-Governmental Agreements to finalize distribution of grants. Organizations that are interested in learning more about the SRPMIC process please contact Ms. Heaven Sepulveda, 12percent@srpmic-nsn.gov.
