St. Augustine is the home of the Catholic Newman Community and is located across the street from the main entrance of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The Newman Community formed in 1954. Due to a constantly growing participation by the students, St. Augustine University Parish was founded by the Diocese of Madison in 1974. The parish has been defined by continual growth and helping students develop a strong Catholic faith within the Newman Community.
