St. Mel’s College is a Catholic Diocesan College dedicated to the education of boys and it opened in 1865 . The college offers a wide range of subjects at Junior and Senior Cycle and traditionally has a strong academic emphasis where students are encouraged to achieve the highest academic standards.
Our mission statement has a very real presence within the ethos of our school and we promote the spiritual, moral, social and personal development of our students. Our school motto ‘Aemula Virtus’ –strive for excellence , captures the schools ambitions for our students and we expect our students to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives in our school.
