St. Olaf EMTs is a collegiate-based emergency medical service providing free, enhanced medical assistance to the entire St. Olaf community. SOEMT provides the many services for the St. Olaf Community: On-call, campus-wide emergency medical coverage from 1600-0700 Mon-Fri and 0700-0700 Sat-Sun; Stand-by emergency medical coverage for special St. Olaf events, such as club sports, campus events, and public events; and Classes on CPR/AED, first aid, mental health first aid, and campus safety.
SOEMT is a non-transporting First Responder Unit. Classified as a Specialized Medical Response Unit (SMRU) under the Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board, SOEMT responds to medical emergencies as needed on the St. Olaf College campus at the BLS level.
SOEMT is a stand-alone student organization. SOEMT operates under the guidance of Northfield Hospital and the appointed medical director. The service operates with input from the Chief of Northfield Hospital + Clinics EMS. The service operates in cooperation with St. Olaf Public Safety, St. Olaf Dean of Students Office, St. Olaf Office of Student Activities, Northfield Police, Northfield Fire and Rescue, and Northfield Hospital + Clinics EMS.
SOEMT is a member of the National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF). SOEMT is a part of the North Central Region, which includes agencies from Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
