The Stanislaus Council of Governments (StanCOG) is a council of city and county governments established in 1971 to address regional transportation issues and enhance the quality of life for the residents of Stanislaus County.
StanCOG brings together mayors, city council members, and county supervisors to work on transportation issues impacting the region. We also promote public involvement for a more collaborative planning process.
Our primary responsibility is to develop and update transportation plans and allocate federal, state, and local funds to implement them. Beyond transportation, StanCOG is also committed to addressing regional challenges such as housing needs, land use planning, economic development, and environmental protection.
Stanislaus County's strategic location along two of California's major highways and its role as an agricultural powerhouse make StanCOG's work essential to the prosperity of the region, the state, and beyond.
