About Space Technology Applications from Research (STAR) Accelerator

STAR Accelerator started (1st November 2019) and is ramping-up from early 2020 with all manufacturing and test facilities expected to be operational by the summer. The equipment and expertise being offered to businesses will include a suite for 3D printing, in metal, plastic, wax and composites, offering businesses the opportunity to re-evaluate and optimise conceptual designs and allow demonstration of methods to reduce production time. The STAR Accelerator offer will also include: computer aided design; precision machining; design and production of electronics; and integrated design, prototyping and coating of micro-fabricated devices such as sensors. These facilities will allow STAR Accelerator to support a wide range of products developed by SMEs. Space Park Leicester’s dedicated physical facilities are currently being developed by the University of Leicester in collaboration with local, national and international partners. These facilities will open in early 2021. It will provide state-of-the-art, high-tech facilities for research, development and manufacturing. It will house capabilities and companies covering an end-to-end value-chain, from satellite design and engineering, through to downstream data and its applications. This creates unmatched opportunities for collaboration. To find out more about Space Park Leicester go to www.le.ac.uk/spacepark. Star Accelerator is part funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
