Start at Zero

Known for its positive and collaborative spirit, SAZ utilizes research-backed practices and holistic approaches to achieve comprehensive health, education, and development. SAZ partners with parents and caregivers to promote healthy early childhood development for children prenatal to age five. Led by educational psychologist, Dr. Jumesha Wade, SAZ addresses structural racism by both acting as a community ambassador to help families meet basic needs, and by advocating for cognitive development, socio-emotional wellness, and nature-connectedness of its target beneficiaries. Core competencies include (1) excellence in the ECE profession, (2) home visiting and parent education, (3) environmental justice, (4) public health, and (5) prenatal support and education. Primary initiatives include Parents as Teachers® Home Visiting, Developmental Screenings, Group Connections (interactive experiences featuring the evidence-based Kaleidoscope Play & Learn® model), Parent Café (parent conversation series), childcare provider coaching, and Legacy Leadership Institute.
