StarT Foundation 开始

The StarT Foundation is a student led non-profit organisation striving to provide aid towards the less privileged children of East Asia in the form of good education. Our mission: StarT began as an idea shared between a group of friends. These boys grew up in a privileged suburb of Hong Kong, and were students at Sha Tin College. These boys, who believed in serving the community, and using their skills for a higher purpose, decided that they should do something to give back to the less fortunate of the world. And with that, the StarT foundation was formed, with the aim of creating a brighter future for underprivileged children. With the partnership of the Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation, StarT is avidly raising money for its main project of 2015-16. Our main project is to create a better environment for children in rural China, and to do this we plan to raise enough money to provide a school with better infrastructure to improve their learning experiences. These abandoned “left behind children” are common in rural China, where rapid urbanisation has caused many parents to move to urban areas to work, leaving their children behind. These children are victims of the most extreme cases of wealth disparity, and they live off of very low standards, their poor education quality being one of the many indicators of this. We hope to change this through our generous help. Besides raising money, we have planned a trip to Huaiji, Guangdong, where our group will spend quality time interacting with children from a local school.
