About Statistics Greenland

Statistics Greenland (GS) is the central statistical authority in Greenland. GS collects, process and publicizes statistical material concerning demographics, business & labor market and social issues in Greenland with the purpose of maintaining a solid ground for political and administrative decisionmaking, for social sciences research and for international purposes. GS is under the Department of Finances of the Greenland Home Rule Government as an independent institution financed by the appropriation of the Parliament of Greenland and by orders from private and public customers. GS was founded in the Greenland Home Rule Act no. 5 of 19 July 1989 and later updated in Act no. 11 of 29 October 1999.
