Stayner Architects

Stayner Architects is a real estate development practice in Los Angeles. We are first and foremost architects, advisers, designers, and builders. We bring our architectural training to lead the full scope of development, design, construction, and management of a project from inception through its operation. Our design training allows us to see potential - financial, aesthetic, community, operational - where others cannot. All of the project leads are trained as architects and are involved in either the construction and/or development aspects of our ongoing work. We know how to build, we know how to develop, and we have a significant track record of being able to realize projects. We believe that rigorous and enduring design is essential to producing long term financial and civic value. Our work does not conform to a signature style and the appearance of our projects is as diverse as their uses. Instead, our approach to form is shaped by a myriad of non-visible factors, such as the constraints of budget, codes, history, site, and use. A common thread between each project is a sensitivity to the site, a rigor of construction, and a belief in what philosopher Giorgio Agamben calls “the contemporary” - an attempt to produce new work that is enduring and in conversation with history. We are particularly interested and dedicated to examining architecture beyond the visual: to consider other senses (smell, taste, touch) and the indirect impacts that construction has on the earth (from sites of resource extraction to social impacts of commodity production).
