STEAM Centre UK CIC STEAM – as in Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics, is currently an educational focus in the UK. Although as a country we need more support for the STEM disciplines, it is only by including the A for art that we really start to become creative, to encourage collaboration and to make learners change from being simply information consumers and turn them into information publishers. Our goal at the STEAM Centre is to develop experiential learning projects that tangentially teach STEAM subjects. In other words, throughout the course of the projects students will learn, use and master skills in an interwoven and independent fashion. In keeping with the goals of 21st Century Education as proposed by UNESCO and supported by companies such as Microsoft, Intel, Facebook and others our projects are designed from the ground up to promote creative, critical thinking, research and collaboration. It is our intention to work with as many stakeholders as possible, primary, secondary and tertiary education as well as manufacturers, developers and government to develop reusable, extensible resources to further the integration of a STEAM aware curriculum at all levels of UK education.
