India the fifth largest economy and world's 2nd largest producer of steel has reached its steel production at a historic level of 120 million tonnes per year. Hon'ble Steel Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has mentioned that India is now moving forward to achieve the target doubling the steel production to 300 million tonnes per annum by 2030. Through strategic policy interventions, the government has resolved to bring down carbon emissions by 2030 and strengthen the country’s commitment towards producing green steel and work towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of achieving net zero target by 2070.
With the rise in construction and infrastructure, the meteoric rise in the demand of steel is not a surprise. As identified by the government in its Mission Purvodaya 2020, the eastern states of India (steel belt) with Kolkata as the integrated hub has the potential to add more than 75 per cent of the country’s incremental steel capacity envisioned by the National Steel Policy.
To harness this opportunity and address the challenges associated with these sectors, BML - the organizers of the various national & International trade events in strategic partnership with INSDAG and knowledge partnership with PHD Chamber of Commerce is organising 3rd edition of a 2 day summit & expo called ‘SSTS 2025-Steel Structures & Technology Summit’ on 25-26 June 2025 at Bishwa Bangla Exhibition Centre, Kolkata.
Like last year, it will be co-located with the Concrete Construction & Technology Summit (CCTS) showcasing the latest advancements in the industry. Additionally, it is crafted in a way so that it leaves an all-round impact in the whole ecosystem of the structural steel and construction. The idea behind bringing the conference, expo and workshops together is to ultimately bring all the industry patrons, researchers, activists, government bodies as well as product & solution providers under one umbrella leading to an execution-based approach.
