STEELCRETE project

This project studies in detail the performances of concrete made replacing natural aggregate with steel slags, with particular attention to durability and sustainability. The main goal is to promote the use of steel slag as aggregate in concrete, allowing a reduction in the consumption of natural resources and the valorization of a material that would otherwise be destined for landfill. This will help to overcome the general skepticism linked to this type of material and to approach this new practice with more confidence. The success of the project relies on the complementary competences on materials, structures, durability and environmental sustainability of the consortium composed by three partners: Università degli Studi di Brescia (UniBS), Politecnico di Milano (Polimi) and Università degli Studi di Padova (UniPD). This project is founded by PRIN 2022 (Progetti di Ricerca di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale) by the Italian Ministry of University and Research and NextGenerationEU (CUP D53C24003800006).
