The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (“STEP”) is the worldwide professional association for practitioners in the fields of trusts and estates, executorship, administration and related issues. STEP has more than 20,000 members from across 95 countries worldwide, who practice across the legal, accountancy, corporate trust, banking and related professions. Members belong to branches that provide professional development and opportunities to network at a local level.
The STEP Queensland Branch is the largest branch in Australia, with more than 230 members. Many of our members are practising lawyers, but we have a growing membership base of accountants, trust company practitioners and financial planners. The Patron of our branch is pre-eminent trusts and estates scholar, Mr Tony Lee.
Our program of events includes:
• Lunchtime seminars
• Evening ‘roundtables’, where issues are dissected and debated in an informal setting
• Our annual Trusts and Estates Conference
• Half day ‘intensive' seminars
Most of our events are accessible to practitioners outside Brisbane, by webinar/teleconference.
