Steroid was initially founded with the name of Dofra S.r.l. in far 1953 by Dr. Domenico Fracassi, one of the first Italian pioneers in the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
Ten years later, in 1963 Dofra s.r.l. changed its name into Steroid S.p.A. inheriting all the business licenses, activities and premises of DoFra s.r.l. under its brand name. Ever since, Steroid focused its core activities in the synthesis of steroid esters with one defined mission: supply high quality APIs both for human and veterinary use.
Today, this heritage gives Steroid the pride to be one of the oldest ever private-owned APIs manufacturing companies. With over 20tons installed manufacturing capacity, Steroid is a worldwide leading manufacturer of Corticoids, Progestinics, Estrogens and Anabolics. The company works striclty in compliance with the EUGMP and follows the ICH guidelines.
The continuous and remarkable investments in R&D make Steroid one of the most innovative realities in the API manufacturers field, able to study new molecules and to develop custom APIs.
Steroid's plant is successfully approved by AIFA, FDA, PMDA and KFDA.
