About STiBNite

STiBNite is an MSCA-ITN project, funded by EU’s Horizon 2020 programme under grant agreement no. 956923. STiBNite endeavours to produce boron-nitrogen-carbon (BNC) based macromolecular organic materials and nanoparticles, which promise to revolutionize modern industrial R&D. Exploiting bottom-up synthesis and supramolecular aggregation properties, programmed polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) would be prepared with tunable features. To prepare the aforementioned materials, BN units (i. e., borazine ring, B3N3) are supposed to be doped in PAH framework. Being polar and insulating in nature, dopant units efficaciously interrupt extensive conjugation in PAHs. That effectuates a tangible bandgap and this bandgap can be utilized to make organic semiconductors. Beside these syntheses, the project would also thoroughly characterize the materials to check their suitability for applications in optoelectronic devices (OLEDs, OPVs, LECs) and as thermal coatings. Accomplishing this grandeur goal requires a bunch of ingenious brains with intuitive thinking capabilities. That’s why, STiBNite aims to train 15 next-gen early-stage researchers (ESRs), coming with various education backgrounds and equipped with distinctive skillsets. This project allows them to work in international research environment along with fostering strong collaborations by interdisciplinary secondment opportunities. By blending knowledge from fundamental science and technical capabilities from engineering modules, these ESRs would use their trainings to make the future more sustainable and thriving.
