Stichting ATEX

Stichting ATEX attempts to increase awareness for explosion safety in order to create a safer environment for the Netherlands and its businesses. Stichting ATEX takes responsibility for the quality of certification for people and companies. In 2006 the European Committee composed rules in order to work safely in areas where there is a risk for explosions. The rules have been incorporated in the Dutch legislation in the Arbobesluit art. 3.5a until 3.5f. This entails that the Dutch government adapted the European legislation. Stichting ATEX conducts as a discussion partner for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. For the certifications of individuals Stichting ATEX created profiles, which are based on the modules from the IECEx 05. These profiles ranges from the basic principles of ATEX to specific activities an employee should be able to do. For the certification of companies Stichting ATEX created a Management System for Explosion Safety. This certification standard is intented for companies that have to have an Explosion Safety Document. Besides this there is also a certification standard for contractors, the ATEX Checklist Contractors.
