Stiftung GRS Batterien (Foundation)

Stiftung GRS Batterien (Foundation) is a non-profit Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) based on Article 57 of the European Batteries Regulation. Founded in 1998 by major battery producers and the German Electro Association (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie - ZVEI e.V.), GRS has more than 25 years of experience in fulfilling the producer responsibility for used batteries. In a non-profit, competitively neutral, and non-discriminatory manner, GRS operates a nationwide take-back scheme for waste batteries. Since 2022, the Foundation has also established a competence center open to all market participants, aimed at carrying out research and development (R&D) projects to improve the international battery supply chain and the global circular economy of batteries. GRS offers training, consulting, and R&D services for producers, importers, and OEMs to implement national and international PRO solutions. GRS also supports PRO activities for other technical and consumer products.
