Stigsborg

After a comprehensive tender process, the Urban Development Corporation Stigsborg was established in 2018 by Aalborg Municipality, PFA Ejendomme and A. Enggaard. Initially, the aim of The Urban Development Corporation Stigsborg is to develop the first stage of Stigsborg Waterfront, which is an area between Stigsborg Wharf, the fjord coast and the roads Engvej/Stigsborgsvej. The first stage covers a total area of approx. 33 hectares including the largest urban park in Aalborg, Stigsparken. In addition, the Urban Development Corporation Stigsborg has right of preemption to stage two and three. Stigsborg Waterfront is geographically limited by the Limfjord Bridge to the west, Nørresundby to the north, The Limfjord Tunnel to the east and the Limfjord to the south. The area has previously housed a number of industrial companies and will now be transformed into a modern and diverse urban district. The development of Stigsborg Waterfront is expected to last 25-30 years and result in 4,000 housing units from a total floor space of 400.000 square meters for 7,500 inhabitants. The housing units will primarily consist of rented housing and owner-occupied housing in 4-6 floors along with town houses in 2-3 floors. Public institutions such as schools, nursing homes and day cares as well as smaller businesses (offices, cafés, shops, etc.) will also be granted space in the area.
