We are fascinated by building envelopes. There is not another single aspect of design and construction more widely misunderstood, while simultaneously posing the same high level of risk if not executed flawlessly. Things can go horribly wrong, but it doesn’t have to be this way! This is where we come in, and we can help. With over 15 years both constructing and consulting on complex building envelopes, we’ve seen first-hand what can happen when building envelopes are not designed and constructed as a complete system. Water infiltration, energy loss, biological growth, decreased inhabitant comfort, occupant dissatisfaction, and lawsuits are just a few of the major problems that can arise. Through our experience and knowledge of both sides of the industry, we can bridge the gaps between construction and design. We like to take an educational approach with our clients - considering the building envelope as a complete system and educating designers and contractors along the way about how each individual component, when specified and installed properly, will comprise an end product that is greater than the sum of its parts. Through education, we seek to make a lasting, positive impression on the building envelope industry as a whole. We all can learn and improve from our mistakes, but it is better to not make mistakes the first time!
