Strong Towns Nanaimo

Strong Towns Nanaimo advocates for a new approach to urban planning and development that is financially resilient, sustainable, and equitable. We are a grassroots organization that is not affiliated with the City of Nanaimo. Strong Towns are critical to the sustainable development of cities and towns. They represent a way of thinking about urban planning and development that prioritizes the needs of the community, rather than those of developers or other stakeholders. Strong Towns are characterized by a number of important features, including productive land use, wise infrastructure investment, incremental building, people-focused planning, and bottom-up decision-making. The Strong Towns movement represents a new way of thinking about urban planning and development that prioritizes the needs of the community, rather than those of developers or other stakeholders.
