I'm a rock and mineral enthusiast who probably should have been a geologist. Instead I've spent most of my working life flying as cabin crew. I was made redundant after 30 years in response to Covid-19.
In 2002 I started a small business called Stone Mania. It was initially a side-line after going part time. It quickly took off and enabled me to combine my passion for rocks and minerals with flying around the world.
Since being made redundant I have turned Stone Mania into a full-time business.
Rocks and minerals intrigue and fascinate me. Although I don’t use them for their metaphysical properties I get a deep sense of calmness when working with them. There’s definitely more to them than meets the eye.
The pieces featured in my collection have been carefully chosen from around the world. Since I no longer benefit from concessionary travel I don’t fly as often as I used to. From starting Stone Mania in 2002 until as recently as 2018, I travelled frequently to Africa, Asia and the USA in search of rocks and minerals for my collection.
I still travel whenever I can but having a network of suppliers around the world means it’s no longer necessary. I can now do everything I need to from the comfort of my office chair.
My website was launched in 2002. At that time the culture of shopping online was still in its infancy. Since then the website has come a long way.
The Articles and Photos section is a catalogue of carefully written articles and some amazing photos. Many are courtesy of a talented mineral photographer in L.A who allows me to use his images.
