Epilepsy affects over 50 million people worldwide, making it the fourth most common neurological disorder.
Despite advancements in treatment, approximately one-third of epilepsy patients do not respond to current medications, while the remainder experience only partial relief from seizures. Even when effective, traditional therapies often lead to side effects.
Our therapeutic approach offers a promising disease-modifying alternative that specifically targets diseased neurons. Hence, our approach minimizes side effects, unlike current treatments that affect healthy and diseased neurons.
We are funded by Business Finland and University of Helsinki.
