Straato is a startup financial technology based in New Jersey and operated from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. At Straato, we have always been interested in how markets work from a quantitative perspective and work to develop liquidity-based algorithms to measure, channel, and respond to short-term volatility. We work on two primary missions: 1) proprietary intraday equity and derivatives trading based on our unique algorithms, and 2) the Straato Market, a user-facing trading market (described below). The Straato Market is a new trading market designed to level the playing field for active traders by eliminating random market noise. We want to democratize profits through an interdisciplinary approach toward re-designing market systems.
The Straato Market is quite technical, so we will explain the market through 3 primary value propositions for traders.
1. In the traditional equities market, small and arbitrary changes in supply and demand affect prices directly. Contrastingly, in the Straato market, only significant changes to supply and demand affect the direction of price movement – price is insulated behind a secondary statistic. This system results in a reduction of market noise, while preserving net volatility (and hence the upside opportunity of active trading).
2. The second primary value proposition is eliminating information asymmetry so that only active trading strategies move the needle. We do this through complete transparency of market liquidity and parameters.
3. Given that most retail day traders trade for fun, the Straato Market is designed to enhance and emphasize these intangibles through strategy game elements built into the trading experience. We also hope to build a vibrant Discord community around the Straato market.
