The Strandingsmuseum St George tells the story of the HMS St George and the HMS Defence, two British ships of the line that wrecked off the coast of Thorsminde on Christmas Eve in 1811 - as well as stories of countless of other dramatic wrecks along the west coast of Jutland, and of the local population's encounter with sailors from distant shores. The gigant rudder of the HMS St George is exhibited.
The Strandingsmuseum St George undertakes maritime archaeological investigations on behalf of the Danish Agency of Culture along the Sourthern west coast of Jutland and within parts of the inland waters of Jutland.
