The goals of Strange Exchange are to:
1. Extend the useful life of everyday items & reduce waste going to landfills
2. Serve as the conduit between one person’s trash and another’s treasure
3. Support local nonprofits by providing with the items they need
How do we do this?
We collect small items to help San Franciscans get rid of clutter. The curated list of items that we collect is based on the conversations we’ve had with local nonprofits. We only collect those items for which there is an established and consistent need.
All items collected are counted, sorted, and weighed to maintain a record of total weight diverted from landfill. Everything is displayed at our Farmer’s Market booth and the community is invited to take whatever they need and the rest is donated to the pre-determined organizations.
Come visit us at the Divisadero Farmer's Market (in San Francisco) on Sundays from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.
