STRAW TO BREAD is a U.S. based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with 100% of donations going to our work in Kenya. What is our MISSION? To share friendship and resources with our Kenyan partners living on the Nyakach Plateau to help them achieve their vision of health and sustainability. We’ve worked together in one Luo community in rural western Kenya since 2001 to improve health, education, food security, clean water and air, and economic empowerment. What is our VISION? This Luo community will have the sustainable physical, educational, and spiritual nourishment needed to live fruitful and loving lives, achieved through our long-term friendship grounded in the goodness, power, and love of God. Straw to Bread has received gifts from Rotary Clubs in Oklahoma and Florida, churches, college dorm fund-raisers, an American Medical Women’s Association chapter, AbbVie Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, and hundreds of individuals who have been to Kenya with us. One of our special projects, Mothers on the Move, won the Albert Schweitzer Prize in The Netherlands in 2018. Administrative costs, which are 2.3% of the Straw to Bread budget, are covered by three supporters who want to ensure that 100% of donations go to the work in Kenya. “What does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8
