"Jiu jitsu helps people become better. If you've chosen the jiu jitsu journey then I'm keen to help you become better - and that's why I write Strength & Flow" says Shaun O'Keefe - author of the Strength & Flow jiu jitsu blog. Shaun's a husband, father of four and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt with Gracie Barra on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. He's a financial adviser by profession and trains jiu jitsu for his enjoyment. He writes about how his life has been influenced by jiu jitsu - how it's helped him develop the level of grit and humility required to be a better husband, father and coach. He goes on to say that people start learning jiu jitsu for a variety of reasons - from watching UFC, to health, fitness, joining their friends - and even setting out to get their black belt. But many get taken out by challenges along the way such as their own unrealistic expectations, poor culture in their jiu jitsu gyms, injuries, money issues, career or family responsibilities - the list goes on. He knows this first hand. "So, you need to have a plan for those times when life happens and the path becomes less clear - some encouragement to keep you putting one foot in front of the other."
