About Student Coronavirus Response Coalition
The Student Coronavirus Response Coalition (SCRC) was a student-led advocacy organization dedicated to providing the students of the Kansas City area a voice in the legislative response to COVID-19. SCRC organized advocacy movements in the five largest school districts in the greater Kansas City area, sparking legislative change in four school districts in favor of SCRC's "SAFE" platform. Through SCRC's dedicated and robust advocacy, the organization also published a comprehensive report on why students should return to school in-person and resume activities and athletics, which was published in five local news outlets. SCRC consisted of a student executive team and a coalition of over 1,000 students and parents from across Johnson County.
