About Studio 3 Arts
Studio 3 Arts is a registered charity (1054793) and a company limited by guarantee (3177640). The organisation was established in 1987 by a group of young people from Barking and Dagenham. Our vision is to make outstanding art that is accessible, exciting and transformative. Our mission is that Studio 3 Arts remains at the forefront of socially-engaged, co-created artistic practice. We run a creative venue for artists, communities and individuals and we make work across North East London and West Essex, in all art forms, that creates real change, both in terms of art and society. We commit to the geographic region in which we are based and make our work in collaboration with communities in this area. We create our work in partnership with local people and other stakeholders who can add strength and value to our practice. We prioritise developing artists at a range of career points – particularly those who are emerging or new to the sector. Our physical home is an established arts venue that is locally-driven, curated and produced – combining our own artistic programme with a selection of received works by artists and companies who are interested in the region and our community. Creative Barking and Dagenham Studio 3 Arts is delighted to be the Lead Organisation for Creative Barking and Dagenham (CBD). CBD is part of the Arts Council England’s Creative People and Places programme. Creative People and Places is a national action research programme to get more people involved in the arts in places where evidence shows people are much less likely than average to take part in arts activity. CBD supports people who live in Barking and Dagenham to experience and be inspired by the arts. Our programme is designed to test out new approaches to involving local people in creative things to do and see and inspire a lasting passion for arts and culture.
