Studio Hamburg

The Studio Hamburg Group is one of the leading German production and service companies for film and television. The company, which was founded in Hamburg in 1947, is now well positioned in all areas of the modern film industry with its various subsidiaries and has annual sales of around EUR 300 million. The Studio Hamburg Group is a part of the NDR. With around 800 permanent employees, and over 800 freelance employees, the group is a major employer in Hamburg, Germany. The group is also represented in many other cities, such as Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Luneburg, and also overseas, in London. The group of companies comes under the umbrella of Studio Hamburg GmbH, a holding company. This includes two business areas, Production & Distribution and Studio & Technology. The Studio Hamburg Group attaches great importance to promoting young film makers. With this in mind, there is a cooperation with the German-speaking film schools. This gives young talent the chance to explore their talents, both in front of, and behind the camera. In addition, the group offers around 60 apprenticeships in the craft, technical, and commercial areas every year. The Studio Hamburg Group is a co-organizer of the FIRST STEPS Awards 2021. Until 2019, over a period of 20 years, Studio Hamburg has awarded the “Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award” every year. Under the motto "Filming for the Future", the Studio Hamburg Group anchors environmentally-conscious thinking and acting, both in front of and behind the camera. The aim is to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 50% by 2030, and even become “climate-positive” in the future. The group pursues this through careful use of resources and comprehensive measures in the areas of waste management, water, and, heat and energy consumption. The corporate culture, in which a green way of thinking predominates, forms the basis for the sustainable use of resources.
