STUDIO LLOYD

Studio Lloyd is a women owned lighting design studio based in Cape Town, South Africa. The studio is striving for diversity within the handcrafted lighting design scope and creates unique and functional design pieces. A piece of furniture or lighting that speaks for itself while it's not in use, but still highly functional and beautiful. The studio was founded in 2016 by industrial lighting designer Ashlee Lloyd. Each piece at studio Lloyd is delicately made with sublime attention to detail. The studio incorporates the traditional technique of crochet into modern lighting and focuses on creating organic shapes within each unique design. We allow each fixture to develop organically & we combine luxurious high-quality materials. The products range from light sculpture installations to light pendants, seating and decorative elements for international as well as local projects. The result is a culmination of functionality and true individuality. For all our products, we use Solid Braid Multifilament Polypropylene (MFP) rope. The rope is made of a blend of Polypropylene and nylon, it is soft to the touch and flexible, floats in water and is resistant to rot, mildew, and UV light. Therefore our designs are suitable for any environment.
