De Balie STUDIO

Een goed publiek debat vereist feiten, nuance en verschillende perspectieven. Het vereist kennis- en ervaringsspecialisten die in begrijpelijke taal het gesprek voeren over belangrijke onderwerpen zoals werk, onderwijs en klimaat. Op dit moment missen we die nuance, die kennis, en de specialisten om ze te presenteren. Te vaak zien we dezelfde mensen met dezelfde gedachten in de krant, op het podium en aan tafel. Daarom lanceren wij vanuit De Balie de leergang STUDIO. Het is een leergang die experts opleidt om publiek debat te maken. Deelnemers zijn specialisten en talentvolle intellectuelen met nieuwe ideeën en perspectieven die een plek in de schijnwerpers verdienen. Zij ontmoeten meesters die hen praktische vaardigheden leren om hun eigen expertise te vertalen naar het grote publiek; én te steunen om de mentale hardheid - die daarbij soms vereist is - te ontwikkelen. STUDIO 1 is gestart op 1 september 2017. - A good public debate demands facts, nuance and different perspectives. It demands experts with experience and knowledge with the ability to speak plainly about fundamental issues such as work, sustainability and education. In Dutch media, more often than not, we lack the required diversity and depth of experts needed. We need to be better. That is why De Balie in Amsterdam launched STUDIO. STUDIO is a course which identifies undiscovered specialists from different fields and diverse backgrounds and teaches them how they can contribute to public debate. They meet with masters from different walks of life who teach them the practical skills to communicate their expertise with a mainstream audience; and support them in the mental hardships standing alone in public debate can demand. In three months STUDIO's experts are experienced makers of public debate. They receive access to the networks and stages to bring it into practice and thus contribute to an open, free and democratic society. STUDIO 1 started September first 2017.
